Rental companies in Ireland has a car hire age policy to rent a car for insurance reasons, the majority of the companies will have a similar policy, however, do check directly with the car rental Ireland companies.

You must meet the minimum age to rent a vehicle however there are some hire companies may offer a Young Driver fee for those meet under the age limit, check with the companies directly if they offer this.


Car Rental Ireland’s car hire age policy

Drivers must meet the minimum age rental requirement for license eligibility to rent a vehicle. If the number of years is 8, this does not mean that the driver must have held their license for 8 years - it means they must have been eligible to hold their license for 8 years.

For those looking to rent a people carrier or luxury car rentals must be eligible to hold a driving license for 9 years.

To rent a car in Ireland you must be at least 25 years old to hire with Car Rental Ireland.

Upper age limit

Those aged over 75 will need to provide a printed medical certificate which states that they are fit to drive and a letter from their insurance company stating that they are currently driving and have not had an accident within the last 5 years. This information must be received at least 5 working days in advance of your rental.
