Car Rental Payment Methods

The main form of payment accepted by car rental companies is credit cards. Although every car hire company will have their own requirements and terms & conditions. It is advised to check the rental’s terms on paying for the vehicle hire rates and rental charges associated with the booking.

Car Rental Ireland’s Policy-

We require that the main driver of the vehicle is the holder of a major credit card which must be used to pay the car rental deposit, rental charges and also produced on arrival. Holders of a 'Chip and Pin' credit card must know their PIN number. Failure to produce a valid credit card will result in a failed rental and no refund will be issued.

We accept MasterCard, Visa, American Express and Diners Club. Payment must be made with a credit card.

At the time of rental, there must be sufficient credit limit on your card to cover the entire cost of the rental and vehicle excess. This includes the deductible/excess amount should you decline our excess waiver cover on a collection of the vehicle.

Forms of payments not accepted-

Cash, Pre-Paid Cards, Debit Cards, Electronic Cards or Credit Card from a third party.

Prepay car rental for another person?-

This is a common mistake experienced, the car rental companies require the main driver to have a credit card in their name because credit card companies require the rental agreement and the cardholder to be one and the same person.

You cannot pay the vehicle hire if another person is driving the vehicle.
